Winnie Rockentine, AFSP
After assisting my father with his tax business for many years, I acquired his clients and started my own tax firm in 2010. That same year I became a registered tax preparer and have maintained my license with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) since that time. Each year I complete 15 hours of continuing education, 6 hours of which must cover new tax law and 2 hours on ethics. For nine years, I worked as a Tax Accountant at Innovative Financial, Inc. in Troy, MI. In November 2023 I retired from working full-time but still continue to provide tax preparation and small business consulting services.
Prior to my career as an accountant, I was a school teacher for the Bloomfield Hills School District. I have served on the Bloomfield Hills School Board, Parent Teacher Organization, and my three daughters graduated from Lahser High School.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an educator, I had a passion for taxes and accounting from a young age. I have many fond memories of assisting my father during income tax season. This was before tax preparation software existed and when tax forms had to be completed with pencil and paper!
